Enhancing Urban Biodiversity and Greenery Management in Urban Green Spaces in ASEAN

#DidYouKnow that urbanisation rate in the ASEAN reached 50.1 per cent in 2020? And by 2030, it is projected to reach about 55.6 per cent or 405 million people. This means that urban areas in the ASEAN will face more pressure from expanding populations, limited resources, and the impacts of climate change.

To address these impending issues, representatives from ASEAN Member States and city representatives from Thailand participate in the workshop Enhancing Urban Biodiversity and Greenery Management in Urban Green Spaces in ASEAN this 23 to 24 May 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. Organised by National Parks Board of Singapore, the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning of Thailand, and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity through the Biodiversity Conservation and Management of Protected Areas in ASEAN (BCAMP), with support from the European Union, the participants are expected to be able to form strategies on how to develop their respective countries’ urban green spaces as multi-functional spaces to promote urban biodiversity and greenery.
