"Harmony with nature and sustainable development"

On the 22nd of May each year, the whole world celebrates the International Day for Biodiversity (IDB). Led by the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, IDB celebrations have carried different themes, highlighting the need for a whole-of-society approach to addressing biodiversity challenges.

With the theme Harmony with nature and sustainable development, this year’s celebration of IDB puts a spotlight on the connections between the goals and objectives of international agreements, such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF).

This year, the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity joins in the celebration by helping spread awareness of the various IDB-related events organised by different individuals or groups designed to promote appreciation for biodiversity and conservation for the natural treasures around us.

about us

Biodiversity is life.

It is what provides for our basic needs, and protects us from natural disasters and the prevalence of infectious diseases. Its importance has been affirmed globally, which is why in 1992, a day to celebrate biodiversity was officially proclaimed by the United Nations.
